Oakland is a city that has something for everyone—including a plethora of outdoor activities for nature lovers. 1. Stream Trail 

Steam Trail, located within Redwood Regional Park, is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. With restrooms and picnic tables, this is a family-friendly trail. This hike, which is spread over six miles, is rated as moderate and allows hikers to marvel at the stunning redwoods. 

2. East Ridge Trail 

Situated on the cusp of Oakland, East Ridge Trail takes hikers on an adventure through the eastern edge of Redwood Regional Park. Here, you can marvel at the wildflowers and stunning views of mountains. You can engage in trail running, hiking, walking, or even taking your dog on a stroll, so long as you keep them on a leash. Spanning over seven and a half miles, this hike is sure to get your blood pumping! 

3. Joaquin National Park 

Joaquin National Park is a treasure trove of hikes and paths to explore. Here, you will find the increasingly popular Sunset, Sequoia Bayview, Cindarella, and Sinawik Loop, which stretches a little over three miles. This loop is a relatively shaded path where you can enjoy the shade while soaking up the sunshine. Make sure you keep an eye out for deer, marvel at the exquisite scenery, and don’t forget to notice the wildflowers.

4. York Trail 

Nestled in Leona Heights Park, York Trail totals a little over two miles and begins by taking hikers through the famous redwood trees. Rated as moderate, York Trail features waterfalls and charming bridges. You don’t want to miss this remarkable hike!

5. Diamond Canyon Bridgeview Trail 

Spanning over a mile and a half, Diamond Canyon Bridgeview Trail is rated as easy, making it a superb hike on which to take your whole family. Whether you prefer trail running or a leisurely walk, this trail is accessible year-round. From waterfalls to tree swings, Diamond Canyon Bridgeview Trail is a great way to make some summer memories.
